Detailed Description

The GCU Brighter Futures Fund was launched in 2008/09 (formerly the GCU Annual Fund) to support scholarships, enhance our student facilities and add value to our student clubs, societies and community projects.

Through this regular giving programme alumni and friends of GCU can make donations of any size and at any frequency. The Brighter Futures Fund is an essential part of GCU’s fundraising strategy. It offers an affordable way for alumni to give back to their alma mater and friends of GCU to show their support.

The fund is particularly special as it allows us to direct funding to where it can make the greatest impact for our students. The fund supports 3 categories of grants:-

Scholarships
Scholarships from the Brighter Futures Fund help to support students joining us via our widening access and outreach programmes including the Caledonian Club. Awards of £1,000 are awarded to talented students who could otherwise face financial difficulties studying at University, ensuring finance is not a barrier to education.

Building and enhancing student facilities
The fund can serve to strengthen those facets of university life that are fundamental to the student experience. Improvements to the Library will help advance our academic reputation and improve our teaching and learning environments.

Supporting student clubs, societies and community projects.
For many, a GCU degree is about much more than lectures and studying. Music groups, sports clubs and cultural societies are just some of the many facets that help to make students’ time at GCU such a valuable experience. The fund will also enhance student focused projects and allow extra-curricular activities both on and off campus to grow and prosper.
